Vodafone has become the first UK company to introduce 5G multi-operator radio access network (MORAN) technology. This enables operators to share the same mobile base station, helping to reduce the energy usage. Customers can now use Vodafone’s faster and reliable 5G service at no extra cost in more than 100 places in UK and other EU countries.
It can be assumed that Vodafone’s MORAN technology will feature the company’s network sharing agreement with O2 announced last year. As claimed by Vodafone, it now offers 5G in double the number of places than its nearest rival with significantly boosted network capacity.
Vodafone is ready for the arrival of exciting new 5G handsets in 2020 and next big software release which involves ultra-reliable low-latency. This will together push the 5G to the next level.
