China’s 3 state-controlled telecom operators – China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom will roll-out commercial 5G services from Friday, November 1.
Authorities claim that they plan to install around 50,000 5G base stations across 50 Chinese cities by the end of 2019, some of which include – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou. 5G plans will start from as low as 128 yuan per month.
China is going to have largest 5G network in the world by Friday after this roll-out. Chinese smartphone Xiaomi has ambitions to launch more than 10 5G smartphones in the year 2020.
This is just a beginning. We will be seeing more nation-wide 5G rollouts next year. With more governments and operators jumping into 5G race and devices getting affordable, 2020 would be the year of 5G!
