One the leading carriers from USA – T-Mobile is readying its nationwide 5G network to go live on December 6th, as announced by the company’s CEO. This network will be built on 600 MHz band of the spectrum.
While the company has already started rolling out its faster 5G network on a smaller scale with mmWave technology in select cities, the new 600 MHz network is intended to make up for the drawbacks of mmWaves, like short range and difficulties of signal penetration into buildings.
According to T-Mobile officials, the network is expected to cover 200 million customers by 2024 with speeds up to 450 Mbps, which is 10 times faster than current LTE speeds. These two flavours, mmWave along with 600 MHz are supposed to deliver best overall network performance, both indoors and outdoors.
Currently, T-Mobile has only two supported devices on its portfolio – OnePlus 7T Pro 5G (McLaren Edition) and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. One needs to wait and watch how the network performance will hold up in the real world.
